VOICES OF VALOR: TESTIMONIALS FROM THOSE WHO SERVED
WITH CHIEF MASTER SEARGENT, USAF (RET.) STEVE KING
Chief Master Seargent (Ret.) Steve King distinguished military career is marked not only by his commendable service record but also by the profound impact he has had on those he commanded and served alongside. Below are testimonials from a variety of colleagues who experienced his leadership first-hand:
“Steve and I served this great nation for thirty years. During that time, we both learned leadership and what it takes to be a servant leader. I fully support Steve and his campaign because I know his integrity and his drive will serve the citizens of District 17 greatly.”

“I have known Steve King for 51 years. We entered the Air Force and trained together. Steve is the ultimate professional with an incredible work ethic. He took on the role as Chief of Aircrew Assignments for all Air Force Enlisted Aviators and performed exceptionally. But beyond his professional capabilities, let me speak to his character. Steve is the most compassionate human being I have ever known. His vision of what he wants to accomplish as your representative is sincere. His focus will be on taking care of his constituents. I only wish my own representatives had the drive and passion Steve has. I can say without any reservations that Steve is the one for the job. I consider him a good friend and only wish I could vote for him, but I live out of state.”

“Steve King is the kind of leader who shows up, stands firm, and takes care of his people. I saw it in the Air Force when he served as a Chief Master Sergeant. His integrity is not a campaign promise. It is who he is.”

Chaplain (CPT), Texas State Guard

“Please support Steve King for the next Oklahoma State Senator for District 17. I have known Steve for over 30 years. He is a very intelligent and compassionate leader. His 30 years in the United States Air Force as a Combat Crew Member and 20 years as a civilian leader in our community put him heads and shoulders above those he is running against. He is a conservative who can see all sides of a position and select the solution that is best for all the people of the 17th District. He gained this perspective from his growth through the ranks to the highest enlisted grade of Chief Master Sergeant. I endorsed him to take the position of Chief Enlisted Aircrew Assignments, where he displayed an ability to see the big picture Air Force needs while understanding the impact on the individual selected for each assignment. At the end of the day, both the mission and the personnel were well matched. I have no doubt he will do that for the people of District 17. A person with a world view who can think critically to meet local needs.”

“In 1984 I met Steve King at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. Steve was flying C-135s with the 8th TDCS and I was flying E-3s with the 963rd ACCS. Back then, neither of us imagined we’d eventually give the Air Force 30 years
of service.
In 1998, I returned to Tinker as Chief Enlisted Manager of the 965th ACCS. To my surprise, Steve “Sky” King was my Operations Superintendent. I quickly learned he sincerely cared about our people and knew them all on a personal level. He’s a man of uncompromised integrity with unwavering loyalty to our Commanders, our troops, and me. He knew the squadron inside and out, and I depended heavily on his counsel. He was my right-hand man and never once let me or the squadron down. Steve approached every challenge with vigor and an uncommon drive — and he got outstanding results. As I mentored him for advancement, he was unknowingly helping me become
a better leader.
In May 1999, I deployed to the Middle East and tapped Steve to fill in as Chief Enlisted Manager with complete confidence. During that time, Oklahoma experienced one of its most devastating tornado disasters on record. Steve remained calm under pressure, kept the squadron’s operations on track, and attended to the needs of troops and families affected by the tornado. When I finally called home on the evening of May 3rd, my wife told me Steve had come by to check on her. Wow!
When Steve competed for promotion to Chief Master Sergeant — a rank only one percent of the enlisted force ever attains — he was my #1 choice. Our Commander, my fellow Chiefs, and that year’s promotion board agreed. It’s been my extreme honor to have served with Steve King, not only as his superior but now, as a fellow Chief.
Lastly, I’d be remiss not to recognize Linda King, Steve’s lovely wife and lifelong partner. Linda has dedicated her life to supporting her husband, their children, the Air Force, and our country. Together they’ve forged a solid team and by the grace of God, I’m confident they’ll continue to serve our great nation.”
